A Study on The Compressive Strength of Circular Concrete-Filled Steel Tube Section Based on Database

ABSTRACT:As the compression force applied to circular cft composite column is increased, the compressive strength of filled-concrete increases by effect of lateral restraint of circular steel tube, and then tensile hoop-stress and longitudinal compressive stress in steel tube increase. However, the longitudinal compressive strength of steel tube in cft section should be decreased, considering von-mises yield criterion. Plastic compressive strengths of confined concrete and steel tube of cft section are some different from each code. In this paper, the expression of plastic compressive strength for circular cft section proposed in KBC2013 are verified through code comparison study based on database collected from various test results by local or overseas researchers.
